I can confirm this bug on edgy (fresh installation). The trace from
/etc/init.d/nscd restart:
+ rm -f /var/run/nscd/nscd.pid
+ return 0
+ /usr/sbin/nscd --invalidate
/usr/sbin/nscd: option `--invalidate' requires an argument
Try `nscd --help' or `nscd --usage' for more information.
+ echo (failed to stop).
The man page shows:
-i, --invalidate TABLE
Invalidate the specified TABLE, i. e. forget all data cached therein. This
should be used if the database storing this information has been changed.
