I don't know if this is related, but I had some kernel panics on Intrepid Ibex 8.10. I think they might be related to skype, as it seems to work if I don't start skype. There was no error and I did not change any mic-related settings though. The only thing that points to skype is this line in the kernel-log: Oct 25 01:00:07 aestivalis kernel: [ 4604.953671] process `skype' is using obsolete setsockopt SO_BSDCOMPAT
I will try to keep my PC running without skype for some time now, to see if some kernel panic occurs. Would be bad if skype really is the reason for this. Btw.: Gentoo Linux was installed on this box before, which had some issues with the athereos WLAN card (ath5k). But this only showed in random disconnects (lost access point association, so no real connection loss on IP-level) on high throuput and never froze the system. Nevertheless ath5k could have some issues on Ubuntu, too. In any case I will write back later, when I have some more details. Hopefully no panic occurs without skype running, so the source of the error would be found. If anyone has some tips on how to get some more details about the panic itself (which don't need me to switch to text-mode and stay there waiting) I would be glad hearing them. -- skype mic failure leads to kernel panic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/250230 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
