The workaround works for me for cdrom (which is a DVD-ROM) but doesn't work for /dev/cdrom1 (which is a DVD-RW) if it has a blank DVD; it still shows the old bug, ejects then reinserts the tray. If the DVD-RW has a DVD-ROM or a CD (audio/ROM) it works.
