1. Launch Azureus
2. Now shut it down either by clicking on the 'X' button on the decoration bar
or by File->Exit or by Alt-F4
3. Launch System Monitor. Azureus will NOT appear on the "Processes" tab.
4. Launch a terminal shell window and execute "ps aux | grep azureus".
Note: /usr/bin/azureus and its child java process will be shown to
still be running.
(Is this intentional on the part of the Azureus/Vuze people? Are they
trying to keep their process active so that they can relay packets
through the users connection even after shutdown? )
Work around is to either
1. Manually kill the the processes in the shell window each time you shut
down Azureus or
2. Remove Azureus from one's machine and install and use package "Deluge"
(or I suppose "Transmission") instead...(which may be the most elegant
immediate solution.)
