** Summary changed: - Using dual monitors once results in permanently lowered screen resolution on main monitor + Enabling dual monitors lowers screen resolution on main monitor, 2 monitors always assumed when X starts
** Description changed: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg I was delighted to see when I upgraded to Hardy to Intrepid that (after enabling some setting using my password) I was able to have a dual- headed system using my Intel graphics card. However, with the external monitor plugged in (it was displayed at full - resolution, the maximum resolution on my laptop screen was 1024x768 (as + resolution), the maximum resolution on my laptop screen was 1024x768 (as opposed to its 1200x800 native resolution). I assumed this was the maximum my graphics card supported with 2 monitors, but when I unplugged the external monitor and re-detected the displays (using gnome-display- properties, since the hotkey no longer works under Intrepid), then logged out, pressed Ctrl-Alt-Bckspc, then logged back in again, the resolution stayed at this lower resolution. I have still not managed to get the full resolution back. I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 (upgraded today), xserver-xorg 1:7.4~5ubuntu3. + + Update: enabling dual monitors led not only to lower resolution on the + main monitor but to X assuming 2 monitors and not detecting displays + every time I start X. There is always an invisible monitor off to the + right where many windows appear, until I open gnome-display-properties + and click "Detect Displays". -- Enabling dual monitors lowers screen resolution on main monitor, 2 monitors always assumed when X starts https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/289282 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
