Dear sir, First let me thank you for taking your time to make Ubuntus the great system it is. I only wish I had the knowledge to more than make (limited) donations as I have almost no computer skills beyond that of a user.
To the point, the error did not repeat. Strangely two things did happen: my scanner was recognized for the first time (Canon MP610) and clicking on "places" only allows me to navigate from the root to the desired directory. Nothing happens when I click on "home folder" or any other place. The work-around is to go from root to home/user, but it ain't supposed to be this way.
