As iwconfig doesn't show the ESSID, this may also be a problem with
wireless-tools. iwlist shows the ESSID, though.
The error number indicates that the argument list is too long - maybe an
ESSID "lenght" vs. "length + 1" problem (I could find some old 2004
mailing list discussions about that)?
