Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: network-manager
I'm on Ubuntu 8.10, fully up-to-date as of Oct. 26th at 4:45 PM.
networkmanager ignores all the passwords I try to save or enter for networks
and replaces them with garbage. This renders my machine completely incapable
of connecting to any secure wireless networks whatsoever.
This bug also happens to my 8.04.1 today, leading me to believe the bug has
existed for some time.
NetworkManager Applet 0.7.0
0c:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG [Golan]
Network Connection (rev 02)
As a workaround I have taken any and all security off every wireless network I
administrate.
This probably qualifies as a Very Bad Thing (And I consider this bug a security
vulnerability but have not marked it as such because I could theoretically have
went out and bought some ethernet cables or something..)
** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
