Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Version: Ubuntu 8.10 64bit
xserver-sorg-video-intel 2:2.4.1-1ubuntu10

I am running a Dell Latitude E6400 with the E-Port simple (docking
station). When using only the DVI-output of the docking station, the
attached Samsung Syncmaster 214T periodically blanks for about a second
and periodically the entire desktop jumps a few pixels to the side.

How to reproduce:
- place Latitude E6400 in the dock and power it on with the lid closed
- login to gnome
- run xrandr --output LVDS --off --output HDMI-1 --mode 1600x1200 to disable
the internal display and set the right mode for the Samsung monitor connected
via DVI (see bug #286001)
- observe the screen flickering and blanking periodically

Using only the internal display however works fine.

** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
