Just upgraded to intrepid on my laptop here, and using nvidia-settings to detect the hotplugged display seems to work.
Specifically: 1) attach monitor via VGA port on laptop 2) launch nvidia-settings (System/Administration/Nvidia X Server Settings) 3) Under X Server Display Configuratoin, select "Detect Displays" 4) Second monitor appears, select it and click Configure 5) set it to Twin View 6) click Apply Upon completion, both monitors will be active, if they are set to be side by side, the gnome panels will only appear on one of the monitors (which is what is expected). This is still a problem in hardy, though. ** Attachment added: "output of "sudo lspci -vvnn"" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/18930376/lspci-vvnn.txt -- [nvidia-glx-new] TwinView only provides Xinerama information when monitor is connected during X initialization https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/200138 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
