With the linksys router configured for disabled wireless security, no
ESSID broadcast, and the following wpa_supplicant.conf file, things
work:

ctrl_interface=/var/run/wpa_supplicant
ap_scan=2
network={
ssid="Enchanted Forest"
key_mgmt=NONE
id_str="home-nosec"
}
