Public bug reported:

I've noticed, that in Ubuntu main there is only one, buggy (look at lots
of crash-reports in launchpad) and unmaintained graphical ftp client -
gftp. Gftp was abandoned by upstream - the latest version is almost 2
year old ! Besides this, gftp is not user-friendly :(

I think, that such buggy and unmaintained software shouldn't be in
Ubuntu main, gftp should be removed from the main. Better ftp client,
like filezilla (look at http://www.filezilla-project.org ) could be in
the main instead.

Filezilla is very popular on Windows OS and upcoming version - 3.0 is
multiplatform, there are already debian packages in unstable since late
October 2006.

** Affects: gftp (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
