Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Ubuntu/edgy:

Xorg 7.1 has a known bug, which happens when the screen has gone to off
state because of power saving features of X.org.

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5665

Then, if any ACPI event, such as unplugging the power cord, or battery
status update, comes, the backlight will turn back on.

This will burn the displays of people and consume a lot of energy.

Please backport 7.2 to Ubuntu edgy when it comes available.

** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
