Yes, i am able to print in other applications. The next things are happens in tuxpaint: (Because it is a dutch (NL) version i will translate the snapshots) see snapshot 1: "De tekening nu afdrukken? (Do you want to print the drawing now?) press: "Ja" (yes) then see snapshot 2: "De tekening is bewaard" (The drawing is saved). If you are pressing "ok", noting happends. No print at all.
