I can confirm this behaviour. I see the same inability to remember
display settings described in comment 4. In addition I can't get rid of
the akregator introduction screen. On the introduction page there is a
link 'If you do not want to see this page click here'
Clicking brings up a dialog box 'Are you sure you want to disable this
introduction page?' With 2 buttons 'Disable' or 'Keep Enabled' (That
probably ought to be cancel). If I click disable then and then click on
a feed in the left panel the introduction page disappears.
If I quit akregator and restart then the introduction page appears again
