I have installed the recent 8.10 release candidate and have no sound.
I've never successfully gotten sound to work under Linux on this laptop
(3000 N100 0768-E5U).

I just did this install a couple days ago and aside from the current
updates, I've made no changes other than installing a few applications.

Hope this info helps make this problem finally go away.
