Right, we usually educate them. For that we first add the extension to the incomplete table on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MozillaTeam/Firefox3Extensions and try to find the appropriate upstream contact (email). then we ask them to add a license.txt file to the .xpi. We should add a similar page for thunderbird i guess.
