You have been subscribed to a public bug by Jamie Strandboge (jdstrand):

I have a device that uses the avr-cdc chipset called a USB-7
(http://spiffie.org/kits/usb7/), and upon plugging it in, the box
immediately locks up. I've marked this as a security concern because
you can lock a system up if you have physical access but no account.

I've confirmed this on two different boxes (Macbook pro, ibm thinkpad),
both running intrepid, and both crashed. It did not cause a crash on
the same box when running OSX or the other box when running windows.

both boxes had the same USB host controller:

Controller #4 (rev 04)
00:1a.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI
