After upgrading to the latest kernel 2.6.24-21-generic the nvidia driver does 
not load.  I have reinstalled linux-restricted-modules-generic, but no go.  The 
nvidia error log is not very helpful:

This driver worked fine under all previous kernels.

I have also re-installed nvidia-glx-new nvidia-kernel-common and the -21
kernel -- no go.
