Thanks for your bugreport.
If this is still a issue with the latest version of update-manager (that
does the transition of kubuntu-kde4-desktop) then I would like to get
the upgrade logs from /var/log/dist-upgrade/* to figure out what goes
wrong. I do a test upgrade with kde4 now to see if I can reproduce
anything.
