Can you still reproduce this bug with new documents on Ubuntu 8.10
(Intrepid)?
I tried reproducing it and the 'save as' document kept the original
creation/save dates as well. For times when you are intending to make an
entirely new document you can hit 'reset' in the properties dialog which
will reset all information.
