Public bug reported:

The FN-Keys on my Sony Vaio VGN-CR19VN do not work in Kubuntu 8.10rc1.
When I am using xev I see this for FN-F4:

KeyPress event, serial 34, synthetic NO, window 0x4000001,
    root 0x89, subw 0x0, time 667172, (170,-7), root:(1128,18),
    state 0x0, keycode 70 (keysym 0xffc1, F4), same_screen YES,
    XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
    XmbLookupString gives 0 bytes:
    XFilterEvent returns: False

KeyRelease event, serial 34, synthetic NO, window 0x4000001,
    root 0x89, subw 0x0, time 667278, (170,-7), root:(1128,18),
    state 0x0, keycode 70 (keysym 0xffc1, F4), same_screen YES,
    XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
    XFilterEvent returns: False

FN-F4 is not a FN-combination. For FN-F5 to FN-F7, FN-F10 and FN-F12 xev
outputs _nothing_. FN-F5 for example should dim the LCD-Panel, FN-F7
should activate the VGA-port. This means that I cannot use this notebook
with a projector (as the VGA-output is no active and I cannot change
that).

Other FN-combinations work, for example FN-P is "*" which is correct:

KeyRelease event, serial 34, synthetic NO, window 0x4000001,
    root 0x89, subw 0x0, time 926862, (166,6), root:(758,31),
    state 0x0, keycode 104 (keysym 0xff8d, KP_Enter), same_screen YES,
" XLookupString gives 1 bytes: (0d) "
    XFilterEvent returns: False

Please tell me if you need further information, I am more than willing to help
you.
