After this error occured, wireless would stop working :
- iwlist wlan0 scanning returns no result or complains about device down
- ifconfig wlan0 up says device not available
- network manager applet shows no available network
rebooting doesn't fix the problem; shutdown and cold startup required.
This error most often occures when connecting to WPA2 network. In my case, I'm
using
- linux-backports-modules-2.6.27-7-generic 2.6.27-7.4
- network-manager 0.6.6-0ubuntu5 (from hardy, needed due to wireless settings)
- WPA2 Enterprise/PEAP/GTC
Connecting to non-encrypted networks works fine.
