I would think that a memory issue would have more widespread
repercussions. Other than firefox/opera I'm not suffering any other
crashes.

I'm currently using the most recent nVidia driver (177.80 I believe).
I'd use the "nv" driver, but I've heard bad things about dual-monitor
support.

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

After upgrading to Intrepid, firefox started crashing unexpectedly while
browsing. The only terminal output given was:

  $ Aborted (core dumped)

I tried purging flash, java, and firefox and reinstalling, but the
problem persisted. I tried disabling compiz, but that did nothing.

In a last ditch effort I decided to see if I could migrate to Opera.
Within a few minutes of browsing in Opera, it crashed with the same
  output.

The crashes appear to occur only while loading a new page, but given the
lack of output, I can't really pinpoint the problem.
+
+ The crashes are occurring on a Dell Precision M65 with an nVidia Quadro
+ FX 250M.
