Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.17
Hi there,
I looked at the already reported bugs, I did not saw this one, although
some I saw were close :
- Upgrading from Dapper on which I didn't have this problem.
- Current kernel is 2.6.17-10-386.
- Motherboard is Asus P4C800-E Deluxe with 1 GB RAM - P4E 3 GHz
- 2 SATA disks (not in fake-RAID mode) of 200 GB
- When booting, after Grub and the Ubuntu logo, the bootup process freezes for
3 mn 34 s each time I boot or reboot.
- Booting in rescue mode gives the same.
- dmesg shows me the following :
[7179578.564000] ohci1394: fw-host1: OHCI-1394 1.1 (PCI): IRQ=[209] MMIO=[f7ef

When boot "freezes", my HD led is showing great regular activity, like
it is probed all the time.
I would call this "the coffee bug" : at first, I didn't know why Edgy
was not booting, I thought of coming back to Dapper, so I went to
prepare some coffee. Then, when I came back, Xorg was up and running
with Edgy ! It took me some time to understand this !
I don't know what is the process requesting manual resume, but then the
rest of the boot is quick and the use of Ubuntu is just perfect...
I have no more idea, let me know if I can help.
Oliver
