I'll also add a few points: Guidance Displayconfig barely worked with the X version we had in Hardy. I would need a nearly complete rewrite of the backend to work with xrandr to really be useful in a modern X. To work with Intrepid KDE, the front end would have had to have been ported to KDE4. So it would have required essentiall a total rewrite that no one appeared to do.
I agree that the current Xrandr tool is not ideal, but it works better than Guidance would have. The one remaining part of Guidance, the power manager, will be replaced be powerdevil in Jaunty. Bottom line is Guidance is gone and it's not coming back. For issues like the Xrandr tool being incomplete, file wishlist bugs against the package that can be properly triaged and sent upstream. For things that are still missing (not we picked a different solution), you might consider joining in drafting the Kubuntu specs for Jaunty: https://wiki.kubuntu.org/KubuntuUDSJauntySpecs As you'll see, for example, the Wine configuration tool is one thing that's already on the list. -- KDE Guidance missed at Kubuntu 8.10 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/291296 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
