Hi. I've just upgraded from Hardy to Intrepid with the official release. I have this same issue. I am running the AMD64 build on a laptop with intel x3100 graphics and 965 chipset. Not sure if it's relevant, but my one of my gdm logs had this at the end:
(==) Log file: "/var/log/Xorg.0.log", Time: Fri Oct 31 07:00:30 2008 (==) Using config file: "/etc/X11/xorg.conf" (EE) intel(0): underrun on pipe B! AUDIT: Fri Oct 31 07:01:01 2008: 5394 X: client 4 rejected from local host ( uid=1000 gid=1000 pid=5625 ) AUDIT: Fri Oct 31 07:01:01 2008: 5394 X: client 4 rejected from local host ( uid=1000 gid=1000 pid=5626 ) AUDIT: Fri Oct 31 07:01:01 2008: 5394 X: client 4 rejected from local host ( uid=1000 gid=1000 pid=5627 ) This was generated when trying to log in using the xclient script. Other times I tried to log in with xclient generated the same message, only minus the '(EE)intel(0):underrun on pipe B!' bit. Logging in on gnome session generates a normal looking log without errors. Also, I deleted my .gconf and .gnome directories but that didn't resolve this. I checked synaptic and all the gnome packages are at their latest version. I think this is an intel driver/xorg issue, not a gnome issue, FWIW. -- After intrepid upgrade, gnome session won't start unless logging into "failsafe gnome" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/279450 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
