Have the same problem
Kmix is not properly binded. "XF86AudioMute" mute front, XF86AudioLowerVolume 
and XF86AudioRaiseVolume are binding to PCM channel and both of them wath ever 
your chose at default channel.
It would normal be binded to the channel is choosed as default one.
Plus using PCM is not a good thing since the sound beging cripy when  pcm is 
upper 90%
