I'm experiencing the same problem with, IIRC, the same video chip (Intel 82845G/GL) in a Thinkpad T60.
I network upgraded to Intrepid (from Hardy) last night / this morning and upon reboot I can no longer login with gdm. I enter my user/pass and X starts for just a brief second (black screen, but the cursor changes from the gdm cursor to the default "X") before (presumably) dying. I end up back at gdm (where it prompts for my username). If I try to switch to a different VT, the display seems to get corrupted and I can't see any text. After a few attempts of this, the machine will sometimes lock up. Everything worked just fine on Hardy. I have not had time to fully diagnose it yet on my side (too busy today), but I'll try to post more details later. -- cannot start X session since intrepid beta on 845G-based system https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/277373 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
