Public bug reported:
I had no splash during boot nor during shutdown in both Edgy live cd and
installed system (no upgrade from Dapper) on my mac mini G4.
I found these workarounds:
Setting usplash.conf resolution to 1280x1024 (default was 1024 x 768)
gave me shutdown splash but still not boot splash. Running sudo dpkg-
reconfigure usplash gave me also boot splash.
