Maybe this is a bug in linux-ubuntu-modules package or the linux kernel? Apparently, there is a code that confuses Fn+Left with Fn+Right. First, bios decreases brightness by "Fn+Left"; second, GNOME roughly increases it. In the end, brightness increases. Bios changes brightness slower than GNOME, that is why GNOME wins.
