Ah by the way, could be important: I've used version 177 of the NVIDIA
driver as recommended by Ubuntu.
The card is a NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS

I've installed Ubuntu 8.10 and all the updates on my Dell XPS M1330
- laptop. Now the cooler is running on 100% all the time making big noise.

- CPU is not running on 100%, noise/cooler already starts with GDM.
