Thats interesting. I have a thinkpad x61 with intel 4965 wireless. What
I have found is if i start the system with my killswitch enabled (i.e.,
wireless disabled) i can get the wireless to start by enabling wireless
with the killswitch, then right clicking on the NetworkManager icon and
unchecking 'enable networking' and the rechecking it. I then also do the
same thing to 'enable wireless'.

Other solution as mentioned above should be to have wireless enabled via
the killswitch prior to startup.
