Public bug reported:

This machine is an upgraded Hardy machine now running intrepid up to
date. It used to be wired and had a hard coded ip address on the wired
connection. It's now been moved and is using a USB wireless device.

Upon boot, NM starts up and sets the wired connection up, the wireless does
connect. However I cannot get out to the net since NM tries to route through
the wired connection. In order to get network access working I must first:
sudo ifconfig etho0 down

After that, traffic is routed through the wireless connection.

I've tried to turn off the wired connection by 'edit connections' and uncheck
the 'connect automatically' box, however it won't let me do so. I get the error:
Updating connection failed: nm-ifupdown-connection.c.82 - connection update not
supported (read-only)..

I've also tried launching the nm-connection-editor via sudo and still
get the same error. As this is my wife's machine now I'd like to get
this corrected. Thanks for the assistance.

** Affects: network-manager-applet (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
