I'm using wdm instead of gdm on Ubuntu Linux 8.04.1. When I tried to
upgrade to Ubuntu 8.10 the pam package was updated. The update of pam
caused a restart of wdm which resulted in a restart of x11. The restart
of x11 caused the update-manager to be killed and thus the upgrade is
not completed.
