Public bug reported:
Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex i386
After upgrading to 8.10 my lid switch doesn't work any more. The screen stays
on when the lid is closed. Power management is set to blank screen. I tried
standby option to with no effect. I searched around a bit and found:
"hal-device `hal-find-by-property --key button.type --string lid`"
which reports the same thing in both open and closed lid positions(I used vnc
to run it when the lid was closed).
.type = 'lid' (string)
input.product = 'Lid Switch' (string)
button.state.value = false (bool)
linux.device_file = '/dev/input/event3' (string)
linux.sysfs_path =
'/sys/devices/LNXSYSTM:00/device:00/PNP0C0D:00/input/input3/event3' (string)
info.subsystem = 'input' (string)
info.addons.singleton = { 'hald-addon-input' } (string list)
info.parent = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/computer' (string)
info.product = 'Lid Switch' (string)
info.udi = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/computer_logicaldev_input_2'
(string)
linux.hotplug_type = 2 (0x2) (int)
linux.subsystem = 'input' (string)
info.capabilities = { 'input', 'input.switch', 'button' } (string list)
info.category = 'input' (string)
button.has_state = true (bool)
So I tried "lshal -m" which i gather is supposed to report somthng when
the lid is closed/opened but sadly remains silent. The hardwares still
ok (blanks screen on close in xp) so I'm guessing the wrong signal is
being polled.
