Public bug reported: I have a friend with a Toshiba Satellite A215-S7422 laptop. When he heard that Ibex uses the 2.6.27 kernel with inherent support for his rtl8187b wireless card he decided to agree to install Ibex. It installed great and it sees his wireless card. We are also able to see wireless networks in the area. However it fails to properly connect every time. With the initial kernel included on the CD it would actually connect to a network (WPA/Hidden SSID) however we cannot even ping the router eventhough it says it's connected and it has grabbed a valid IP address from the routers' DHCP server!
I have a mirror of the repositories and knew there was an immediate update to the kernel so we installed the update and now it won't even connect! It keeps going back to asking us for our password. I ran dmesg and found some interesting messages complaining about no ipv6 routers in the log which I am including. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: kernel rtl8187b wireless -- RTL8187B device does not connect in Ibex https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/292490 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
