Problem persists in 3.1b2pre (Shiretoko) using Nvidia driver and Compiz. I'll try uninstalling the Nvidia driver and using the NV driver later tonight or tomorrow. Thanks again for another quick reply -- seems your weekends are as action packed as mine.
