I saw your suggestion in bug 284818 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-setuptools/+bug/284818 but I don't know (yet) how to remove setuptools, in particular a previous version. And setting overwrite-local=1 in /etc/python/debian_config also makes me feel unsecure: other python stuff get overwritten, too, right? So the next best thing to do seems to uninstall the current version of python-setuptools? Any hints how to do that?
