I think I did: in order to have a python2.4 interpreter alongside the 
distro's python2.5 one, I installed python2.4-all [and -dev and -dbg]. 
Then installed the setuptools 0.6c8 or something like that and recently 
installed the 0.6c9 version.

I saw your suggestion in bug 284818

but I don't know (yet) how to remove setuptools, in particular a 
previous version.
And setting overwrite-local=1 in /etc/python/debian_config also makes me 
feel unsecure: other python stuff get overwritten, too, right?

So the next best thing to do seems to uninstall the current version of 
python-setuptools? Any hints how to do that?
