Thanks for your bug. That's not a totem bug, totem has nothing to do
with what ubuntu-desktop does. It has be made that way so the package is
installed by default. You are free to remove ubuntu-desktop. The system
is not perfect though and there is some plans to make it better and use
Recommends for such packages by example. There is already a
specification about that. I'm closing the bug since that's not really a
bug and something being worked already
