Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pidgin

Running pidgin under Kubuntu 8.04 upgraded to latest release as of 1st
November causes pidgin to silently lock up. If run from the command
line, no errors are displayed. No window is shown, and no icon is
displayed in the system tray, though a space is made for it. Terminating
with ^C causes the space in the system tray to go away.

I have removed the .gaim directory.

If I remove the .purple directory, I can run pidgin again. This is not
an idea solution, as all my account details are then obviously lost.

I'm running
