this problem is happening to me too but in different hardware, it on my laptop
Toshiba P200-12W, with Intel graphic card. There is no GUI or a way to change
that xorg default device as far as I know in ubuntu 8.10, I don't know if
there's a way to do that in command line mode but I'm allready sick and tired
from it, in Opensuse there's a tool to administer the system in an easy way
called Yast (I think it's open source), I'm wondering why ubuntu didn't think
about making at least something similar.
Xfix don't do a thing to my problem it's just a restore to the default hardware
detection like on the livecd detection, it dosent give you control to choose
devices.
