I have a Ubuntu 8.10 Live Installer CD, from which I am trying to boot
and I am experiencing the aforementioned error, best described by "ATA
revalidation failed". The detailled message is:
ata3.00: status: {DRDY}
ata3.00: revalidation failed (errno=-2)
ata3.00: exception Emask 0x0 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x0 action 0x6 frozen
ata3.00: cmd (etc)
cdb
res
This message repeats indefinitely.
The specification of this notebook are:
Fujitsu Siemens
Amilo Xa 2528

As of now it is *impossible* to install Ubuntu 8.10 on this notebook
using the Live CD (haven't tried the alternate installer but I assume it
suffers from the same issue).
