In the Adept Package Manager, navigate to 'Manage Repositories' and add 'deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu edgy-proposed main restricted' and then update your sources. That should show updates to among other things, wlassistant. If you could please comment here on whether or not it solves the problem, that would be great.
