On a system upgraded from 8.04 to 8.10:
Using any screensaver (gnome-screensaver ot xscreensaver) screen saver starts
OK, and can be stopped within a few minutes. If I only get back to my desktop a
couple of hours later, either mouse movement or keyboard action stops screen
saver, and I am left with a blank screen, mouse cursor still shows, but no
icons or panels. Only way out is via power cycle.

Tried changing USB keyboard to PS2 - no improvement.

This did not happen under 8.04.
Only workaround I found was to uninstall both gnome-screensaver and
xscreensaver. Now screen goues black, but both mouse and/or keyboard restore
working desktop.

Please forgive me if I am insufficiently informative. I am Linux-
challenged; Sorry!
