** Summary changed:

- Ibex hangs on NFS-utilities during bootup
+ Ibex hangs on NFS loading during bootup.

** Description changed:

- I just upgraded my Dell Inspiron 1420 from Hardy to Intrepid. During
- bootup, loading NFS-utilities (NFS common-utilities?) fails. Other
- things are loaded, then the second time NFS tries to load it hangs.
- After about 10 minutes, the boot will eventually proceed and I can log-
- in, etc.
+ I just upgraded my Dell Inspiron 1420 from Hardy to Intrepid.
+
+ I now experience the following chain of events on each bootup:
+
+ 1. Starting NFS common utilities fails.
+
+ 2. A number of intermediate things are started, including the kernel log
+ daemon, ACPI modules, etc.
+
+ 3. Starting NFS common utilities fails yet again.
+
+ 4. Exporting directories for NFS kernel daemon succeeds.
+
+ 5 .Bootup hangs on starting NFS kernel daemon and eventually proceeds.
+
+ 6. Something related to Samba fails.
+
+ 7. Something related to VirtualBox fails
+
+ 8. Bootup proceeds.
+
+ These steps alone can take up to 7 or 8 minutes to complete. Needless
+ to say, this dramatically slows bootup times and may be robbing me of
+ functionality (I haven't noticed any yet, but I'm new to Linux and not a
+ power user yet).
