I have a similar issue that TitoN.
Added
Section "Extensions"
Option "Composite" "Enabled"
EndSection
as suggested above but it did not solve my problem.
Graphic Card info:
Graphics Processor: GeForce2 MX/MX 400
VBIOS Version: 03.11.01.43.00
Memory: 64 MB
As far as I can see this is the only issue I have with the 96 drivers
