Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus
Recently when I right clicked on a media file there were two entries for VLC in the menu which appeared (only one of which worked). When I selected the 'Open With Other Application', there were seven instances of VLC, only one of which worked (the others said 'Could not find 'wxvlc'). There were also three instances of Text Editor, and two of Amarok and Firefox. Thanks to some help I got at the Ubuntu forum, I managed to remove the duplicate entry from 'Open With', but the multiple entries for various programs remain in 'Open With Other Application'. It seems that when some programs are updated, an entry in 'Open With Other Application' and (in the case of VLC) 'Open With' is duplicated.
