Public bug reported:
I am running a system76 pamp4i and by default a screen on the HDMI-2
port is detected but the is no screen plugged in and there never was.
this is the output of xrandr:
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1280 x 800, maximum 2640 x 1568
LVDS connected 1280x800+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 331mm x
207mm
1280x800 59.9*+
1024x768 60.0
800x600 60.3
640x480 59.9
HDMI-1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
HDMI-2 connected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
1360x768 59.8
1152x864 60.0
1024x768 60.0
800x600 60.3
640x480 59.9
This causes an annoying problem for the unknowing user because by
default the system tries to clone the two screens and adjusts the
maximum resolution to the resolution of the ghost screen so you can't
get an aspect ratio of 16:10 corresponding to the man laptop LCD. This
seems to be a bug in xserver-xorg-video-intel.
Thanks
Marco
