Last (good) news (07.11.2008 - 22:16): Steps:
- I uninstalled the madwifi driver. - I removed the ath_pci line in the /etc/module file. - I upgraded to Intrepid Ibex 8.10. When I booted up, I noticed that the hardware manager detected my wifi card, but I wasn't able to activate it. After googelilng a little bit, I came back to the first thread I saw (that has changed since last time). http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/atheros_ar5007eg (sorry, still in French). Someone added a new topic especially for Intrepid. Briefly: - The standard ath5k included in the upgrade is bugged. It has been deactivated. - I installed the "patched" module (linux-backports-modules-intrepid) and rebooted. - wlan01 was available then. Conclusion: > Move to Intrepid Ibex. > Install the patched module. Problem solved. I still need to do some tests before closing this bug. Will do soon.
